Alicia Sanchez on being multilingual and working the night shift – Pro In Motion
Alicia was raised bilingually by her parents in France. About 7 years ago she decided to move to Elche, Spain, to be with family and enjoy the Spanish lifestyle. Shortly after, she joined EBTS as a customer service officer so she could use her language skills. Discover what her job entails today.
Working in a multilingual environment
“What I like most about working at EBTS, is that I get the chance to speak many languages. In my case: French, Spanish and English. I especially use my French skills frequently, since this is the language I was hired to help our customers in. In my previous job as an operator, I only used my Spanish skills. I enjoy being an asset to the team, thanks to my bilingual upbringing.”, says Alicia.
Being a night owl: the ins and outs of the night shift
“At EBTS, we work in shifts in order to help our customers 24/7. I work the night shift from 19:00 until 7:00, three times a week. Working at night gives me some free time during the day – after getting some sleep of course.”
“Another thing I like about working the night shift, is our great team. Everyone is so nice and helpful. The atmosphere is great, I consider myself lucky to have such amazing colleagues.”
Trust and autonomy
“After working at EBTS for six years, I have come to a point where I have earned the managers’ trust and am able to work very autonomously. This motivates me to do my job as well as possible. On top of that, every day brings new challenges, which keeps things interesting.”
Staying in motion outside working hours
“When I am not working, I enjoy staying active by going to the gym or doing other sports. I also like spending time with friends and family. This keeps me quite busy.”
“However, when I go on holidays, I like to relax. My perfect holiday would be: renting an apartment by the sea, relaxing on the beach while listening to the waves and being with family. That’s why I love living in Elche, it is very close to the coast.”
